Psilotum nudum - Whisk Fern |
Certainly not the best of pics to depict
a sudden burst of growth. First of a kind
since being field harvested seven months
ago from Aldi's two year old landscaping.
This specimen was found at the base of a
nursery grown Dwarf Magnolia tree that no
doubt became inoculated in the field with this
ferns spores, knowing that it takes
many years for the Magnolia to come
into it's own. Only to have
survived the process from field to landscape,
then only to harvested again by me.
Old growth shows new tip growth
along with new shoots from the center.
No signs of spores though but hey,
perhaps next year.
