Got Caught In The Rain This Late Afternoon
Biked around our lake with the threat of rain. Nothing like some motivation to get you
moving. After passing about four people who turned around to head back from where they
came from gave me thoughts to. Then two thirds around thinking that it would be smooth
sailing , the gray sky ahead was lighter and then whoosh. The cloud burst came down
and when your not in the safety of an automobile or indoors and on a bike and wearing
t-shirt and shorts, it felt relatively heavy.
With a three day head cold and plenty of stored energy from napping most
of the day and hoping that I could sweat this virus out of my system.
It was tense, a blast, fun and joyful. First time my left hand started to go numb
from gripping the handle bar so tight.
I was also happy later that evening to have collected twenty gallons of rain water.
Angel's Trumpet's First Bloom
If the NASA can put another lander, the Insight on Mars. I should at least be able to launch
a picture off my phone. It took me five tries to access this photo.
This Angel Trumpet caught my eye yesterday after returning from a doing some
yard work and collecting the spoils, some small canes of bamboo and what do I see?
A familiar sight of salmon blaze against a overcast sky.
This first bloom took a long time coming, knowing that I cut it back severely yearly
this year. Slight damage from last year's hurricane. Who's name escapes me because it
wasn't my first. This specimen had a lot of old wood. Old here in Florida and it being
a tropical plant, looked older than it's years, in my opinion. Two brand new stalks have
grown to almost ten feet and it's blooms peeking out of it's Dr. Seuss shaggy leafed top.
Lots of holes in it's leaves to show us it's persistent in pushing out these beautiful blooms
this time of year, shorter days and second time with temperature in the mid forties.

Bamboo Wellness Wreath
Friend's yard is full of some running Bamboo and so I thought I would make something
with it. My first working with green Bamboo was a very small dream catcher. As tough as it
was to work it to my will , these larger versions went a bit faster. Having worked them within
hours of being cut helped to, no doubt.
Will be adding to it as I see fit. The inner small wreath only too one plastic tie and a strategic
spot while the larger must of took seven or eight. I'm sure the forces of physics would more
than explain the hows and whys.

T's Peacock Ranch and My Florida Poke Bowl
All T's P's are in the trees as the when the evening's light descends.
How many can you see?
Lots to be thankful for.
This didn't knock my socks off, but then, I wasn't wearing any. However it did fill
the soul and belly.

Pull One Out Of Archives - Cloud Set
Tofay as i biked around this lake I was admiring the Fall lighting along the shoreline. Did
want
to stop
so we are going to admire this image instead.
Ionopsis In Full Bloom
Full bloom and in comparison to what it looked like when first purchased.
Picture taken on 07Oct2018.
R.F. Orchids out of Homestead FL hosted an orchid sale here at our
Hollis gardens and took great care in coxing this specimen to bloom and
bloom it did.
Now the real challenge is to get a repeat performance same time next year.
No pressure.

Cacao Tree - Looking Good
to bring it in so as not to get hit with the forty degree
temperatures predicted for Friday morning and slow
down or interrupt it's growth cycle.
Right at home with some afternoon light to help keep up with the momentum
of growth.

"Lace Rock Gazing Rock and Lemon Grass Whipering Secrets", said the Lizard.
Caught this living rock and the Lemon grass plant leaning in close
exchanging secrets. As the lizard investigates my presence, that is
until it hears what is being said and scrambles for it's life...knowing
that the dried remnants of a dead cypress branch won't be good in
using to defend itself.

Lace Rock Gazing Rock
I had to travel west for this specimen, just not as out west, as in Utah.
Where most Lace rock specimens like this rock, can be found.
Or if you find yourself at Tampa's Artisans Bonsai shop there is no telling
what you may find.
I just added some of my tannin colored collected rainwater to this to give it's
tea color. Along with some reflected sky and a plethora of manipulations typically
found in a photo editor, and viola!
It now becomes this deep gazing object that matches what I saw when I first laid
eyes on this ancient volcanic creation.
Gaze a little deeper and there's no telling what you might see.

My Tiny Garden Masetro Conducting Jatropha podagrica Symphony
Being a musician and always having a tune going through my head.
I was eating a meal at my back steps and spied this little guy looked
like it wanted to conduct that song in my head.
I suspect and will go on record that it appears to me to be a Budda Belly -
Jatropha podagrica seedling. My mature Budda Belly is always throwing down
seed every season, but the ratio of seed to sprout is quite low, but always seems
to know when it's time to sprout another. Another that can be given away to a quest to
my garden that grabs their attention and aknowledge's it's belly and odd growth.
Matter of fact my next store neighbor was admiring it this past weekend, so I
know where this one will end up.
Rhapis Excelsa FOUND - Not That Is Was Lost - Just Hiding
Well preserved and lacking in the essentials. I've managed
not using our city's water for my general gardening needs, going
on three years now.
I will just dig this up and repot and bring it back from it's hibernation.
I've always kept this confined to a pot. That is until I got tired of it and
put it in the ground in the front yard knowing that it could easily spread.
Where I planted it under my house's eves it would not get a lot of water,
thus naturally slowing down it's rampant growth. I was opening to find
a sprout left over from after my finally digging it out. I will look one
more time.
This specimen pictured is a remnant when it was in a pot and one of it's
rhizomes escaped it's confines and thus survived on it's own until now.
I went off today to look at this house not far from where I live and the whold
back yard is covered in this palm, twelve foot high and ten feet deep. Shows
just how it can get out of hand or if needed, used for some privacy. I was hoping to
find some dug up specimens to take home, but no so such luck. The ground crew
that was clearing the property did not take any survivors.

With The New Time Change Brings Me A Kitchen Guardian
This creature of the night is looking for a meal. Perhaps not realizing that this
light will not attract the plethora of bugs that it may be used to be seeing outdoors.
Perhaps one of these days I will try preparing some cricket meal that is now
available and make it some Gecko sized bites. Not the same as fresh or as
challenging. Rarely is when the alternative has to be packaged and made for
mass consumption.
BROmeliad FOUND - Not That Is Was Lost - Just Hibernating
This Aechmea bromeliad has buried in this forest of Liriopi and Cast
Iron plantings and it's still hanging on. Looks like a new, albeit spindly
young pup, which has that on it's favor. A promise of a new life.
I'm giving it some of a gardener's first aid, more sunlight by clearing some
of the larger leafs. Will remember to water it with some of my stored rainwater,
which is only promised to a select few this time of year. Once it shows some signs
of improved vigor it can be brought out of it's wild environs to acclimate to more
hospitable conditions and care to bring it back to it's handsome self.
Today's intention was to rescue two known deserted specimens, one down, one more
to be found.
Look who snuck in.
