Another Double Bloomer taking advantage of this year's wet season

Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem'
as it's name suggests a little gem at that.

This specimen was a rescue from Loews.
Not only was it a little scrappy looking
but also the price was discounted deeply.

Second bloom of the season emerging.

When Not Lookin ...Look What Popped Up!

Cortaderia selloana - Pampas Grass plumes

The silkiness and green tint
suggests a matter of weeks,
perhaps three weeks tops?

Pagoda Flowers Again

Stunted growth due to lack of water and
yet it still blooms. Countless times I hauled
out buckets of rainwater to this back lot
location with reward.

While less than thirty feet away another is nearly drowned
from the heavy rains we received collectively over the past
few weeks. With standing water at its feet takes its toll.

Yet it hangs on to life.

Not only is this a Late Bloomer but the only one of the season

This grouping usually blooms every other year, this being the off year.
Once again, when you think how things goes there is always a surprise
on hand.

I attribute this late bloom to the wet summer. There is no replacement
for real rain. As oppose to the stuff we get from the tap.

Bottom center of image is
another bloom trying to merge
from this competitive bunch.
Not to be out done by it's brethren
near the curb. The other Late
Bloomer.

While this Garden drama enfolds so does my cell phone activation still
drags on. I'm told another 24hrs before activation.

Starting Netflix's series 'Narcos' for distraction.

Budha Among the Boulders

It's distinct shaped leaf is trying to
blend in with its environs. How is
it doing?

Jatropha podagrica

Final Destination for Varigated Agave?

While out in the yard yesterday detailing the yard I had a visualized this
specimen's location, knowing that it's current location was only temporary.

Wrapping up a Library book is due Thursday.
An enchanting lite read.

Yesterday and Today's Evening Sky

What makes these skies standout are the towering clouds, at this time of year.

Plant Nursery update

Once house bound and birth to a
short lived albino specimen. Whose
history is known only to the one that
witnessed this miracle of nature.

Well adapted and thriving from it's indoor
environment beginnings.

Trying to remember what its parentage
will be.

Amyrilla seedlings not even a year old.

The ubiquitous Staghorn fern started from a pup.
Given to me from an admired Yogi instructor.

Another Yogi cutting given to me with culinary intentions that ended up
being planted.  Rosemary herb that will keep giving.

Tibouchina plant cuttings from
an original cutting from a long
time acquaintance.

This green cutting is well on its
way to a successful regeneration.

Plumeria Pudica 'Everlasting Love'

These Texas cowboys could use a bit more sun. All but one of these
transplanted seedlings are off to a good start.

Texas Ebony - Ebenopsis ebano

Tree Frog amongst a field of blue

What was it thinking , when if jumped from a secure car trunk to a neighboring
car surrounded by a hot black top parking lot. Not that there weren't attempts to
save it from this unforgiving fate.

Late Bloomer in every sense of the word

It's neighboring brothers bloomed already this year. So this
bloom was a total surprise and a welcomed one after all of this
rain we had in the past week.

Experimental Kitchen - What do with these steamed shrimp

Looks better than it tasted. Added some Strawberry Kefir  (note shown)
which did help some.
I used Avocado as my base, which is worth repeating. I wish
I had used the Black Grapes in this combination while
they still had some life in them, instead of throwing them
out.

This is why we call this Experimental Kitchen.

A friend made the above and it was very delicious, which was my inspiration.

Downpour Saturday evening

First time in two years, where water stands for more than a couple of hours.

My neighbor gets her share of standing water too.

Day three (Monday) and after two light showers. Not unusual for the amount
of rain received.

Another Beautiful Panoramic evening sky

Stormy skies to the North and a sunset peaking out to the West.

A 'Big Smile' of a view of the weather unfolding around the lake.

And if these panoramic pictures are not enough , perhaps a video?

Pomoea quamoclit - Cypress Vine

This vine can be considered as a weed , but hey time will tell. I captured this
specimen at the library's landscaping. This one looks to be a cultivar and not
some long time dormant volunteer mostly described as if some ancient relic
from the past who's soil has been disturbed and ready to be unleashed on the
modern world.

I have yet to see this grown intentionally in gardens or planters and always
in some hedge along curbside landscaping while driving in my car. Always
catching my eye and wanting to possess this rambling vine.

Can't wait for a Avocado to ripen, so...

Of all the Avocados in town, including the four that I have on my counter.
Not one is ripe enough for my Mud recipe. So, three bananas worked for
an Avocado substitute in the past, but there's a buy one get one on fresh
figs. Black Mission Figs to be exact.

So I made this 'Mud' without it's origins, without using the  Avocado. I
substituted Black Mission Figs, Cinnamon ,additional Vanilla Extract
and crunchy Peanut Butter.

Who knew!

Considered another name , 'Blue Stacks'.
