Who Knew

Always on the prowl for something new, whether it be new plants or new food.

Well, I thought I spied some Fava beans at my local grocers.

Lupini beans, pickled in brine...who knew.

My grocer didn't have the frozen quinoa variation with the the other Italian beans, so these

Lupinis were a nice change and yes ,this dish tastes as good as it looks.

Change Of Water

with some fresh spinach greens to boot.  These weeks old Tads never had it so good.

Along with some Hikari Fancy Guppy food, these Tads can't believe their luck.

Guess Who Came To Dinner

Certainly not my most bizarre uninvited guest. Florida does have it's unique menagerie

of wildlife.  This is not only brazen and bold, with nary a flinch when I turned on the light.

With plenty of time to find me a fitting container to trap this beast and it's still sitting here

with it's sly grin.

It's been a while since I took a walk with my visiting yard cat to give this creature a more

fitting place to live.

Something New In Bloom

There's no mistaking this little shrimp, Dwarf Mexican Petunia for the standard fair. It always

makes me smile when I see this in bloom. I almost wrote, it gives me a smile. Yes indeed, it

just gave me a smile,  such a gift.      Thank you!

Tree Of Life

My potted Afrocarpus , technically a tree, but alas pot bound for several years. Has of late been host to

some new garden occupants. Not only to the regulars that I've seen and who knows to what else that

I haven't seen.

Here are the two most recent critters from this urban homestead.

I believe this little guy is one of our own Florida Black Rat snake and I like to think that word got

out that there are some fresh garden gummies (new frogs) to be had. This was taken sometime

in the early hours, like after midnight and the cafe is open. I just let loose one or two a few hours

ago, not seeing or noticing if there was a snake of all things lurking around in a tree, who knew.

To my surprise, it's still there, probably really PO'd that this is not the all your can eat frog

cafe.

Needless to say I changed my venue for fresh frog releases.

Because....

Another newbie, probably also heard that there was some fresh bites up here. First time I'm

seeing a frog with red suspenders. Luckily for this frog, this morning's black snake took a hike

elsewhere.

Who said there's nothing new to found, all you have to do is open your eyes and stay curious.

A New Batch Of Frogs

I believe this froglet is giving me the flaming blue finger. Ha!

From spacious condo sized pickle jar digs, downsized to a one room efficiency garden

variety glass terrarium apartment for better water management.

 These frogs got

launched to the great Florida urban outdoors, yesterday. There were three

brave souls released on their own cognizance.

Your living space just grew exponentially.

Like A Fiddler Crab That Needs A New Shell

These Parsley Aralia, former props always made a great office plant, suitable

to that environment.

These get a natural potting alternative, a vacated fresh water Apple snail shell. These

shells have served these props well and now is a good time for replacement. I just recently

spotted some around a nearby lake that I  bicycle around daily. Not entirely

sure if our snails are native or not.

That spiny green 'frog like' cacti prop, front and center in the pic above, photo bombing

the Parsley Aralia to it's left. Came off a gigantic specimen while in transport. Accidents that

turn into props.

We May Be Out Of Pickles

 but, Tadpoles, those we have.

Didn't have to go afar, as in neighbor's yard. For these aquatic wonders, it was only steps

away to a rainwater collection pail.

                                                                          Exhibit "'A"'

Could of been worse, it could of been Mosquitoes. We had an excessive amount of rain weeks

ago to have had this much water sitting around, knowing that I have excessive numbers of

outdoor plants that would have enjoyed an extra sip or two.

My rainwater collection well be put to good use for the Tads daily water changes.

                                     Spoiled? Why not.

The Other Queen Of The Night

It this bloom could make a sound as loud as it's beauty we all would be deaf.

This one says it all.  A potted life has it's limits and that's where a good trimming comes

to a healthier outcome when done right and of course , said many times before!

All together now....'Time will tell'
