2021 Winter Garden Parade - Verbena

This beacon of white Verbena amongst the bramble of green and brown concludes

this Florida Wintery Parade. Well it did get down to the low forties the other night.

Lets give it a Florida brrrrrrrrr.

Until then I hope you find your bliss in what ever it may be and if your fortunate to

have many a bliss, all the merrier will be.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Twin Tailed Foxtail Fern

You seen it here first...Ha!

I'm sure we all have seen a many a two headed creatures but have you seen a twin tailed

Foxtail Fern?             Ta-da!             There's a first for most everything.

To bad this wasn't a singularity and could be cloned for it's anomaly.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Bromeliad

A wink of rose caught my eye the other day in thicket of green. This Bromeliad is

advertising it's location for all of those that can appreciate it's florescence.

I believe but not certain that this Bromeliiad var. is Darth Vader. There's not enough sunlight

to darken it's foliage that also has white spots that mimics a field of stars, if this is

the case.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Florida Everglade Tomato

This Florida Everglade tomato volunteer is the closest you can get to an invasive vegetable.

This one, I'm sure will not the last long and will probably get weeded out as apposed to taking

up valuable nutrients here or in a pot. Our Florida sand does not have much nutrients to give.

These blueberry sized fruits do pack some flavor in a tiny package. Novelty at best, but hey

they probably have been around for hundreds of years if not thousands.

So yes, I took a picture of it so it will last. Ha!

potted

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Blue Fern

A peek of blue for you.

New growth on the Blue Fern, always the highlight.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Florida Red Bleeding Heart

A welcomed splash of jam colored spent Florida Red Bleeding Heart flowerrs for an eye

catching garden color.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Tea Olive Fragrance Banger

Some cream with your morning coffee?

This Tea Olive is a banger when it comes to big fragrance in a small package.

2021 Winter Garden Parade - Crape Myrtle Guardian of Orchids

This crafted Crape Myrtle Guardian of Orchids with it's Winter splash of white, thanks to the

Florida native orchid.

2021 Winter Garden Parade Promos

Third promo...it looks better on my phone.

BTW that home grown tomato tastes as good as it looks folks.

Second promo...not bad IMO!

and the winner is...my first one out of the box as usual but it never hurts to throw some other

ideas out there.

A New World For A New Frog

You have millions of years of generations behind you that brought you here. So this should

be a piece of cake.....or a piece of what ever you like to eat and that is not served you twice

daily not to mention the once a day change of rainwater.  I bet you didn't consider that in

your means of getting to this point and your Welcome!

Now don't slouch , heads up because you never know what is lurking out there looking for

a snack, the same as you.

My Inauguration Time Well Spent

Out with the old and in with the old.

I displaced some bulbs that were getting in the way on the sidewalk.

No lipstick on a pig here...decided to go makeup free...hehe.

Vocal stray cat approved without the fanfare.

The new, you ask? Location, location, location.

Time well tell, as with everything!!!

Better Than The Top Bunk Anytime

LAst Week's Catch - var. Summer Sandwich, Bonnie Plants

  and it's only mid-Winter.

Not even a week later...voila!

Does not disappoint in flavor or appeal.

They won't grow by themselves though...I pushed these babies.

PuffBall Fungi Anyone?

I got them potted and still fresh and not far away from another spore induced plant buddy,

the Whisk Fern.

A Florida native and quite peculiar if you ask me. Rescued this unique specimen from

all places, an Aldi's landscaped parking lot. It just goes to show you to keep your

gardening eye on the look out at all times. You never know when you will be rewarded

quite handsomely.

Exhibit 'A'

Whisk Fern getting ready to spore if it hasn't done so already. Still in it's original

pot and going strong three to four years now.

Nearly forgot this Puffball that is a bit farther along.  Notice the coloring.

Just

waiting

to

get

puffed.

First Blooms of the Season -White Powderpuff

I believe this is the first time I've seen this flower with a single blast instead of the compound blooms

that is the norm.           Nature has it's way of making things a bit more interesting at times.

First Blooms of the Season -Thick-Stem Pink Begonia

Not to be out done by it's cousin the Thick-Stem White Begonia.

No bloom yet, but then it doesn't want to show off in front of it's neighbor the pink Camellia

that is currently in bloom.

Leaves not as large as the white begonia but the flower spike is just as tall.

From this angle, like a Giraffe as the Pink Begonia cranes it's neck to get it's bearings and admires

the beauty of it's neighbor.

Realizing that the Camellia's beauty is fading and with a new bud not far away to

steal the scene. This Pink Begonia will be heads and shoulders above the spectacle

this flush of blooms that brings out the best in all and needs no narration from me...ha.

First Blooms of the Season -Thick-Stem White Begonia

Welcome to our Florida Spring.   Florida, the land of flowers that does not disappoint.

Very primitive and basic flower for a very primitive basic variety. The leaves are larger than

my head and nearly two foot tall... with and even tall flower spike...

and there's more where those flowers came from.

First Bloom Pine Needle Tilandsia

This gifted specimen is about to present it's gift to the flowering world.

First Bloom Of The Season

A blushing Camelia that has nothing to blush about. It can't help that it's so beautiful, it

was just born that way.

First Bloom

Begonia cutting given to me and it's doing it's thing this mid-winter.

I will have another first bloom to post shortly.

This Jackfruit Tree's Unique Features

This thirteen month old specimen, planted from seed is becoming my next obsession.

taking a look at the trunk and it is beguiling to note some most unusual features.

Take these for instance...

Too early for being fruit spurs, perhaps root spurs? Time will tell.

And these...

Some kind of collar, I suspect that might be unique to this variety not found on any

searching on the internet.

Bachelor Cafe Mod

Salmon Salad with a new added ingredient, ground Poppy seed. A little twist

on and old favorite with seasonal fresh fruit accompanied with some favorite

crisp bread crackers. Change up the ingredients to accomodate what is on hand

and what inspires me.

Is it bread or is it crackers...ha!

Props & Tads

Tadpoles were collected late August 2020, shedding frogs weekly, dead or alive. Last

count one hundred and thirty two, of those, thirty five didn't make it past the froglet

stage.

The golden one on the right was released yesterday, which makes it the hundred

and thirty first in line and approximately the ninety seventh frog to be released

into the wilds of this urban oasis of backyard garden.

As for the props, they are doing well and getting more thirsty since having to put

on some heat to take out the chill in the room. their lighting requirements are at

whim. Yet still a lush indoor island of green.
